Christian Public Service Canada was organized in about 1990 to oversee humanitarian work. The Church of God in Christ Mennonite had been operating Christian Public Service in the U.S. since the 1950’s and the Canadian division was patterned similar to it. CPS Canada took over the administration of the two children’s homes in Winnipeg and a volunteer service unit was started in Montreal. Today there are volunteer girls’ units in Halifax, NS, Stoney Creek (Hamilton), ON and Edmonton, AB and boys’ units in St Johns, NL, Montreal, QC, and Kelowna, BC
