An ice storm in 1998 caused severe damage to trees and power lines in Quebec. A volunteer unit was set up at Roxton Falls. The volunteers cleaned up in  sugar bushes, cutting the bigger fallen  trees into firewood and the smaller wood into approximately 16 inch pieces so it could decompose better.

At the end of 1998, the unit was moved to Cornerbrook, NF
